Ideal for telecommuters and SOHO users, the MultiModemZPX internal data/fax modem connects to the PCI slot in your PC. The fast 56K Internet access is also great for multimedia, video, live audio, and intense gaming action.
Several factors recommend a PCI interface over an ISA. First, the newest computers have fewer ISA expansion slots and more PCI slots, so you're more likely to have an available PCI slot if your machine is brand new. Second, PCI devices support full, easy Plug and Play installation under Microsoft Windows 95 or later. Third, the PCI bus offers faster data transfer than ISA--although modems don't benefit from this as much as other devices. In short, this 32-bit PCI bus modem gives you maximum performance and convenience.
Providing a great all-around solution at a fantastic price, the MultiModem features convenient, hands-off voicemail, speakerphone and fax capabilities. The free bundled software features a user-friendly interface for Windows 95/98, plus plenty of valuable applications: web browser, Internet telephony, on-line services. Full-duplex speakerphone support includes an adjustable speaker volume control, and support for TAM (remote/local telephone answering machine) includes voice mail control, record/playback, and call screening.
For the best line performance, the MultiModem supports V.42 error correction and MNP Class 5 & V.42bis data compression. Another good feature, line quality monitoring, automatically pulls back the modem speed in poor line conditions and speeds forward as the conditions improve. This makes for better overall line performance.
The MultiModem automatically distinguishes incoming fax, data, and voice transmissions and detects AT & T calling card tones. You can store two command line/telephone numbers, up to 40 characters each, in the modem's non-volatile memory. Distinctive ring support allows you to take fax, data, and voice transmissions on a single line, as the modem intuitively recognizes each.
The MultiModem supports all major industry standards, including V.80 for videoconferencing; V.17, Group 3, Class & Class 2 for fax; and V.90/K56flex for data. It complies with ITU-IT, TIA, and EIA international standards for compatibility with other modems. Flash ROM ensures easy upgradability in the future.
